We’re halfway there! A look back at my favourite Saisei Hen Arranged Battle Scenes

Two months ago I embarked on what I thought would be a one month affair with Saisei Hen, but my time spent on making Arranged Battle Scenes has meant my progress has been abysmally slow. Well as of yesterday, I’m officially halfway through the game!

So to celebrate this monumental occasion, here’s a look back at some of my favourite Arranged Battle Scenes which I’ve done so far.

Stage 8 – Twin Drive

This was probably the first one which really kickstarted it all. This was the second time which I had included enemy attacks, but the addition of a non SRW, Original Soundtrack background music I think really hit the spot.

Stage 11B – Allelujah Rescue Operation

This stage marked the first time we had recruited all of Celestial Being and being a Gundam fan, I wanted to showcase a team effort against the A-LAWS.

Stage 15 – Man as Before

We all remember Stage 15 right? The stage where the annoying Firebug squadron shows up with their annoying Jamming abilities which stack and make them impossible to hit? Well, I tried to capture that in this video.

This stage marked the first time I included grunt enemy units in these Arranged Battle Scenes, since the Firebug Units are just colour swappped Axios. It was a rather big challenge but I think the end result ended up pretty good, I included a track from Gundam SEED which I had been searching for, for over 10 years. Another first was the inclusion of more than one track of music.

This battle also includes a remix of Crowe and Esther’s ACP Faiz and ACP Iota attacks as a combination attack.

Stage 17 – A Bride in the Vermilion Forbidden City

This stage was…total madness. Five or so bosses, and I wanted to capture them all in one crazy battle. Wufei and Xingke appeared as enemies in this stage so I let the Duo and Quatre have a crazy fight, while Kallen fights Xingke.

Zero also debuts his Shinkirou, and since I previously did the Knights of the Round in another video, I pushed Zero by having him solo all three of them by himself.

I used Juno Reactor’s Burly Brawl for the background music, you might recognize it from the Matrix Reloaded  in the scene where Neo fights tons of Mr. Smiths at once and it was an awesome track which I had always wanted to use.

Stage 19 – Each Other’s Battlefield

This stage was marked the first appearance of the Innovators and Ali al Saachez, and what better music to include than that track that always plays in the Gundam 00 when they are around. I was originally supposed to include T.M Revolution’s Zips when the counterattack started, unfortunately due to copyright issues I had to scrap that idea.

One of my favourite moments is during the counterattack when Shinn and Ali have a good old fashioned brawl which includes all of their attacks (except Destiny’s vulcans).

Stage 23 – Grief Stricken Quatre

First appearance of the Wing Zero (as an enemy unit), Vayeate, Mercurius, and the return of Strike Freedom and Infinite Justice.

This video almost didn’t get made. At one point I was considering scrapping it, since the enemy units didn’t really have many interesting attacks and Wing Zero was missing it’s most powerful attacks. In the end, I decided to make the video more about Strike Freedom and Infinite Justice instead, and what better track to go with it than “Freedom and Justice” from Gundam SEED.

I also remixed Freedom and Justice’s Assault Combination Attack into what I think it should look like.

Stage 25 –  Neverending Promise

Stage 25 marked the first appearance of the Diamund, and it has some of the most well done animations in the game. This Arranged Battle pretty much celebrates his funky animations while portraying as he is in the game, a tough SOB to take down.

I set this to two tracks from the Fatal Fury Motion Picture, which I hope added to Gerauds “badass” image.

Stage 27 – Zero VS Zero

This was another stage which I almost gave up on, due to the lack of new stuff to showcase. I must thank finaldarkfire/Anthurak though, since he recommended the piece of music which single handedly decided which direction this video went in.

With “Zero” from Ace Combat Zero as a base, an idea for using Macross units started to form and the end result is pretty much Gamlin, Alto and Michel destroying everything. One of the finest moments in this video starts around the 3 minute mark, where I remix various of Alto’s and Gamlin’s animations to create a combination attack.

Stage 29 – Warriors’ Cry

Epic stage calls for an epic video! So many things happen in this stage, lots of new toys, and the Mr. Bushido debuts his Masurao. With that in mind, I wanted to showcase a massive fight between Setsuna and Bushido, with it being the last time you’ll see 00 Gundam’s unique animations before it’s replaced by 00 Raiser.

I also wanted to introduce the new units (Wing Zero, Heavyarms Custom, Zeta’s Biosensor, and 00 Raiser)  in an epic fashion, to do this I used the “00 Raiser” track from the 00 Gundam OST, which gives and imposing and powerful feeling.

Stage 31 – The Unbreakable

There were 3 things which I wanted to show off in this video. First, was the introduction of Crowe’s upgrade, the Librasta. Second was a battle with the Gigamon, and lastly, Geraud’s final battle against Crowe. It was kinda challenging, since the Librasta’s animations are rather stiff and awful compared to the Diamund’s.

I used the track “Lightseekers” from the Hokuto no Ken: Legend of Raoh movie, which is the music used when Kenshiro fights Souther, and I think fits the whole dueling theme quite well.

Well that’s mine done. What’s your favourite one? You can find a full list at my YouTube playlist here!

I’d also like to say thanks to all the people who watch my videos and read/support my playthrough, your comments really mean alot to me 🙂

Thanks again and stay tuned for more Arranged Battles to come!

These are pretty entertaining since I usually play with animations off.

Warriors’ Cry Arranged Battle is my favorite so far. I can see why it took so long to make the Trans-Grahm effect. 😀 I wish there was actually a cross-series Team Attack for Zeta Gundam and 00 Raiser Gundam, though it would probably be OP. 😀

I really like Unbreakable Arranged Battle as well, you may have convinced me to go the melee Librasta route. Do you know which seiyuu voiced Geraud? It sounds very familiar, but I’m not too great at recognizing Japanese voices. 😀

    @KLinedIScream
The Warrior’s Cry AB took me over 10 hours to make, so I’m glad you enjoyed it!

I only picked Librasta R because I felt it would look better for a final showdown with Geraud as opposed to the long ranged B. I do think the B would kind of suit Crowe better gameplay and canon wise though.

As for Geraud’s seiyuu, can’t help you there 🙁

    Awesome work !
Please tell me, how de you insert a music of your own choice while keeping the pilots’ speeches as well as sounds of explosions, movements, shooting ?
Could you please make a video where Shin Getter performs Stoner Sunshine but with the Stoner Sunshine’s theme instead of Shin Getter’s two openings ? I was disappointed when I realized this track wasn’t included in the game. It’d be truly kind of you.

    @Magnus
    Thanks!

I use Saisei Hen’s volume controls, I turn BGM to minimum, SE and voice to maximum and then record the attack animations. Finally, I use a video editing program to overlay new music on top. Most of the time the new music can override the game’s BGM, but sometimes extra editing work is needed to try drown it out.

If you know a way to turn off music completely it’d help immensely!

As for the Stoner Sunshine theme, it’s a heavily requested item, I’ll try to make it work when I get it!
